Genesis
Hey! Thanks for wandering into my corner of the internet. I promise it's more interesting than it looks.
I've been wanting a space like this—somewhere to think out loud, share what I'm thinking, and hear from others.
Before we dive in, I want to share a few things that shape how I think. Knowing them might help you understand where I'm coming from.
Context is King
To get a complete explanation, we have to know all the other necessary conditions (aka. The Environment). You need the environment to explain everything. You can't explain anything without the environment; furthermore, there is no such thing as a universal law. Laws are always relevant to a particular environment. - Russell Ackoff
In software, things change constantly. Teams shift. Tools evolve. Priorities move. I've learned over time that there's no one-size-fits-all answer. Every idea lives inside a moment, a team, a stack, a constraint.
Thus, when I say:
- "Always do X," I mean, "I forgot the context."
- "I obsess over Y," means "I forgot context."
- "I really, really, really think X," means "I'm admitting, I completely overlooked context."
Many ideas work in different situations. But how well they work depends on when and where you use them.
I try to give context when I can. But I'll miss things. You'll know your situation better than I ever could. Take what works. Tweak it. Leave the rest.

Understanding
"What I cannot create, I do not understand." — Richard Feynman
I've always been pulled toward the "why" behind things. Not what works, but why it works that way. I appreciate when people take the time to teach me how to think, not what to think.
I try to explain where my ideas come from—but sometimes, the context gets fuzzy. There's a lot of it! Sometimes, we forget the why behind a belief. What matters is being clear that you're leaning on trust.
Opinions and Ownership
Owning my opinions matters to me. It means I care enough to test them.
I have strong opinions. I stand by them. Not because I'm always right, but because I want to find out if I am. Owning what you think is how you learn. It invites better questions, better pushback, and better thinking.
I'm open to better ideas anytime.
Doubt and Critical Thinking
"Whenever you teach, teach them to doubt what you teach." — José Ortega y Gasset
Challenge assumptions. Ask questions. Make the ideas work for you. Experience teaches a lot—but it's not always right. Challenge what you think you know. I do this too, even with things I know well.
As long as you understand why someone built the fence, you can remove the fence.
Experienced people have faced similar problems before. They've developed insights through experience that you will learn with time. First, try to understand why they think their way. Then form your own views.
Eternal Student
"A true master is an eternal student." — Master Yi
I seek to learn something new every day. Each lesson shows me how much I still don't know. Learning helps me stay humble and ready to change my mind.
I'm an eternal student. Share back!
